Q & A with Commissioner Tom Anastos 10/02/08 Commissioner Tom Anastos is beginning his 11th season with the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. In addition to serving as the president of the Hockey Commissioner's Association and on USA Hockey's board of directors, Anastos is recognized by The Hockey News as No. 85 on the list of the 100 most influential and powerful people in the sport. His commitment to growing the sport resulted in a statewide celebration known as `Hockey Day in Michigan' each of the past three years that created an unprecedented seven consecutive hours of hockey coverage, including the live broadcast of two CCHA games, on FSN Detroit. The initiative caught the attention of USA Hockey, which will celebrate `Hockey Weekend Across America' for the second consecutive year on February 13-15, 2009. CCHA.com spoke with Anastos about the upcoming season.
CCHA Essential: Preseason Weekly Release 10/02/08 The CCHA television schedule starts this Saturday as Comcast Television (CTV) airs an exhibition game from Yost Ice Arena between the Michigan Wolverines and U.S. NTDP Under-18 team. The CTV package in 2008-09 consists of 22 games including 21 on Saturday nights with a pair of campus-site playoff match-ups in the mix in March.

Free 'Have Fun, Play Hockey' Clinics Set for 2008-09 09/19/08 The CCHA, FSN, RBK, the Detroit Red Wings, Tim Hortons, and Perani's Hockey World plan on hosting "Have Fun, Play Hockey" clinics at all 12 CCHA member school locations and throughout Metro Detroit during the 2008-09 season. The free clinics, open to boys and girls ages 5-11, who have not played organized hockey, begin Saturday, Sept. 20 in Big Rapids, Mich. Pre-registration is required.
