Columbus rookie Nikita Filatov had a regulation goal and then netted the shootout winner for the Blue Jackets, who rallied from a two-goal deficit and beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4 on Sunday night in the preseason finale for both teams. Alexandre Picard, Jakub Voracek and Jason Chimera also had goals for the Blue Jackets (4-4).

Ryan Smyth's power-play tip-in at 3:07 of overtime lifted the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-3 preseason win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night. Smyth, at the left edge of the crease, redirected Paul Stastny's cross-ice feed past Cristobal Huet. Chicago's Martin Havlat scored a power-play goal with less than one second remaining in regulation to force the extra session.

New Anaheim defenseman Nathan McIver skated out of the penalty box and into a breakaway, and beating Roberto Luongo at 22 seconds of overtime to give the Ducks a 4-3 preseason win over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night. It was McIver's first game for the Ducks after being claimed off waivers from the Canucks after Vancouver tried to send him down to the American Hockey League.

Phil Kessel and Patrice Bergeron scored shootout goals, carrying the Boston Bruins to a 5-4 win against the Washington Capitals on Sunday night that wrapped up each team's preseason schedule. Alex Ovechkin had Washington's only successful try in the shootout. Boston goalie Manny Fernandez stopped Michael Nylander to open the shootout, and then sealed the win with a save on Alexander Semin's try.
