The Penguins are not exactly endorsing the idea of European expansion.

"I think it's good the way we're doing it—two cities, I'm not sure which two, every year," team president David Morehouse said of starting the regular season with games in Europe. "As long as they focus on the (European) hockey markets, for now it's a great thing."

Commissioner Gary Bettman is non-committal on the expansion subject, even though Ottawa owner Eugene Melnyk said Sunday European expansion is "going to happen."

"It's not on the drawing board," Bettman said.

Melnyk disagrees.

"(Expansion is) a question of time, a question of how we can set up a schedule," Melnyk said.
