PA SportsTicker recently obstructed San Jose Sharks defenseman Brad Lukowich and held him long enough to ask the following questions:

Fresh off a Stanley Cup triumph as Mike Babcock's assistant coach the last three seasons in Detroit, Todd McLellan hopes to be the one who can teach the Sharks to be winners at the most important time of the season.

The 40-year-old, getting his first crack as a head coach in the NHL, will tweak the Ron Wilson defense-first system by insisting the defense jump into the play when the opportunity presents itself. To that end, GM Wilson changed the look on the back line.

Todd McLellan's new system is taking a while for the San Jose Sharks to learn. The Sharks closed out their first preseason under McLellan with a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday night. San Jose scored less than a minute into the game and then added two goals 53 seconds apart late in the second period.

The Canucks' top line of Daniel and Henrik Sedin and Steve Bernier each scored a goal, lifting Vancouver to a 3-2 preseason victory over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night. Evgeni Nabokov made 17 saves for San Jose (2-4), but more important was the absence of Sharks star center Joe Thornton, who didn't take a shift after the second period.

Joe Thornton scored with 3:03 into overtime to give the San Jose Sharks a 4-3 preseason victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday night. Devin Setoguchi of the Sharks tied the game midway through the third period, just over a minute after Garth Murray had given the Coyotes a 3-2 lead. Patrick Marleau and Tomas Plihal scored for the Sharks (2-3), who snapped a two-game losing streak.

Peter Mueller scored three goals and rookie Mikkel Boedker added two goals in the Phoenix Coyotes' 5-1 win over the San Jose Sharks on Monday night. Mueller scored his hat trick entirely in the second period. After wristing a shot past Brian Boucher at 6:19, he converted on Daniel Winnik?s centering pass 49 seconds later.

Dan Boyle scored the go-ahead goal and Evgeni Nabokov made 16 saves as the San Jose Sharks beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-2 in a preseason game on Friday night. Boyle, the high-scoring defenseman who was the Sharks' main offseason acquisition, scored 33 seconds into the third period. Mike Moore, Alexei Semenov and Jamie McGinn also scored in San Jose's four-goal period.
