U16 PP Breakout #3
Description
Our first Breakout option is to Cusato's side. Flahive will curl in support toward that side always. Coutu hits center red line and is ready to jump zone on dump or receive pass for strike. Riley must be power skating hard on weak side to be first on puck on hard rim. Coutu's role is to double team puck retrieval. Correia trails up ice through middle.
If CARRIED IN on Cusato's side by Flahive, Cusato must support behind him as a safety outlet dump. Coutu would skate the middle and delay as pass option and then go to support corner of PP set up. Riley would skate to opposite side face off dot and Correia filters through the middle point.
If breakout on Riley's side, Flahive still swings toward Cusato but then takes middle ice support. Correia MUST be puck support behind Riley. Coutu now skates parallel across far blue hard. Riley MUST give up puck with quick pass once pressure is on - either hit Coutu up high on blue if there or across to Flahive, or drop pass back to Correia to switch ice.
Notes: We want to avoid Cusato or Correia carrying the puck in deep into the offensive zone as that interrupts out power play set up. Look for hard dumps or targeted carries to side boards, looking to go up to Nick at point to initiate the power play formation.
