2 Versus 0 with Defence Regroup

Diagrams

Description

O1 starts with a puck. On whistle O1, X1 and D1 are all moving. D1 is skating backward from centre ice waiting for a regroup pass. O1 is skating through the neutral zone with the puck. X1 is skating through the neutral zone (without a puck). O1, sometime after the redline, makes a pass to D1. D1 changes direction, with the puck on the stick, and skates towards O1. X1 has their eye on the puck the entire time and is making a down-low pivot from forwards to backwards, always having their stick in position for reciting a pass. D1 make a pass to X1. At the same time, O1 also tracks the puck and skates below the centre circle with the intention of picking the puck back up somewhere in the neutral zone. X1 now has the puck and is skating in the opposite direction from where they came. They give O1 a pass. At this point, O1 and X1 make a 2-on-0 zone entry for a shot on the net. D1 skates to the other zone, just inside the blue line, where a coach will feed them a pass for a shot from the point. The coach should delay the pass until the 2-on-0 has been completed. X1 and O1 should remain, and screen the goalie as the shot comes in from the defence.

Notes: A 2-on-0 zone entry system choice is optional. Both O1 and X1 need to know their role.
