5 on 0, 3 on 2 Back

Diagrams

Description

Start with the coach dumping the puck in. 1 dman takes puck behind the net. the other D skates backwards to the slot.
the wingers get the the hash marks quickly. the centerman then times it to come down the middle a curl either way . the dman with the puck then has 5 options to choose from

1- come out and pass to the strong side winger cutting across
2-pass the puck to the centerman curling into the corner
3-come out the other side hit the weak side winger
4-dman from middle moves to opposite corner of Centerman curl for an outlet pass from dman with the puck
5- carry the puck out if not pressured looking for a up ice pass when available

important for the dman to use what is open and read & react as the coach will add more & more pressure as they get comfortable with the break out.

continue up is 5 on0 shoot . then the coach passes a puck to one of the F as they regroup to go down the other way 3 on 2.

Play ends after goal or dump out or save afte 3 on 2. For change on the fly have the others not doing the drill be on the bench and instead of going deep with the 3 on 2 the dump it in and change . the new forwards then go in for the 5 on 0 breakout and the defensive change while on the 5 on 0 new dmen become the 3 on 2 dmen. Continue drill .
