2 on 1 Continuous

Diagrams

Description

This is a continuous drill that has the 2 on 1 players being replaced after they complete their play to the net. Each repetition involves the Defence reproducing a breakout pass with the Forwards supporting and staying in their lanes as they skate up the ice. The Forwards pass the puck through the neutral zone and then make a pass to the supporting Defence player. The Forwards then CROSS and receive a return pass from the Defence player. The Defence player who follows the Forwards up through the neutral zone then pivots at center ice and plays the 2 on 1. The 2 on 1 Defence player is to maintain a line to the net (usually not outside the goal-post line) on the side where the puck is being carried. The Defensive objective is to take away the pass. The Goalie is to play the shot. The Forwards are to make a play to the net which may include a shot; pass or rebound.
