Zone Breakout Warmup

Diagrams

Description

D starts drill by delivering outlet passes to RW, then LW, then C, then taking a puck up-ice himself.

C curls from slot towards winger receiving pass and touch passes back to winger, then curls back into slot to do the same on the other side. After both RW and LW have gone, the C receives an outlet pass from D and goes up-ice to shoot.

After touch-passing with the C, the winger will play the puck off the boards around a coach, picking it up on the other side and going in to shoot.

NOTE! After shooting on the net in the other end, players will stay in the slot for tips/screens/rebounds from following players. Once the D has shot, the next line sets up to go, and the next D again begins the drill with the next line. This is a continuous flow drill.

Notes: For younger ages, it might be easier to eliminate the coach from the blue line and just have the players skate out with the puck. It's harder for them to complete so many quick touch passes at first.

Players coming out of the zone skate along the boards to free up room for the next line coming up-ice.
