This drill was created using HockeyShare.com's Online Drill Drawing & Practice Planning Platform.
Forwards lined up at center both sides along boards, first two D just inside zone, other D further back into zone.
This is a 4-pass progression drill. The first two D will complete each of the four patterns, while the other D will either (1) do saucer passes to each other in the zone or (2) set up a small shooting drill on the 2nd goalie.
D1 and D2 at younger ages may stay stationary, however should be encouraged at older levels to maintain some movement back and forth, passing and receiving passes with some footwork.
The first route is completed by F1, passing to D1 and skating into the zone, pivoting back to receive a pass back from D1. They then skate the length of the ice and shoot on net.
The second route is completed by F2 on the same side as F1, passing to D1 and skating a full loop into the zone and out the other side. D1 will pass to D2, who touch passes to F2 as he exits the zone, who will continue on and shoot on net.
F3 and F4 will start on the opposite side. F3 will pass to D2, and do a similar route to F1, skating into the zone, pivoting to face D2, and skate back out of the zone. D2 will pass to D1, who passes back to D2, who touch passes to F3 exiting the zone. F3 shoots on net.
F4 will pass to D2, then skate a similar route to F2, deep into the zone and around both D, out the opposite side. D2 passes to D1, back to D2, who fires a stretch pass to F4 in the neutral zone opposite wing.
The drill now resets, but with the forwards on the opposite side as the first time starting the drill. F5 will be the F1, F6 will be the F2. F7 will do the F3 pattern, and F8 will be F4. In effect, four forwards in a row from the same side will go (F3, F4, F5 and F6) before the other side does four in a row.
The D-men will change up after all four patterns (F1 - F4) have been completed. D3 and D4 will take the place of D1 and D2, etc.
