Stickhandling Progression (in motion)

Diagrams

Description

SEQUENCE 1:
1. players line up in-line with the cones, wrapping the line into the corner instead of behind the net.
2. players leave, one at a time, deking each of the 5 cones, as shown.
3. designate that ALL DEKES should go to the same side of the ice, this will ensure that players spend equal time working on forehand dekes, and backhand dekes.
4. after the last cone, player shoots.

SEQUENCE 2:
1. add a cone between each of the 10 cones you've already set up.
2. players skate down one side of the cones, reaching the puck as far between each set of cones as possible, then pulls the puck back out before hitting the next cone.
3. players should skate down the SAME SIDE of the cones both ways, so forehand and backhand will be worked equally

Notes: THIS IS NOT A SPEED DRILL. players must go slow enough to execute a proper deke at EACH cone.
