Offensive Zone -- 2-1-2 Possession

Diagrams

Description

Once getting possession of the puck, LW makes a quick pass to C1, breaks to the net and looks for a return pass (Give n Go).

RW, recognizes the play and breaks to either weak side for return pass from LW or crashes the net for a rebound.

Notes: When attaining possession in the O Zone, it is important for the second forward, in this case, C1, to create space and form a triangle between he and his other 2 line mates. Creating this triangle gives the second forward a couple different options.

In this example, there is a Give n Go opportunity. Or, C1 can continue skating behind the net to the opposite side to get the Defensive team to move with him in hopes one of the Offensive players moves to get into position. See Drill Offensive Zone 2-1-2 Shift
