Bob the Builder

Diagrams

Description

1) Split team in half, with players lined up at blue line along the boards as shown.
2) Coach at center of ice with pile of pucks.
3) Coach dumps one puck into zone.
4) X1 and O1 from each line charges for puck to get puck possession.
5) Should X1 get possession, X1 will try to pass the puck back to X2, (who would then skate in with the puck to try to create a two on one advantage).
6) However, O1 will be trying to get the puck back from X1 (before he can pass to X2), so that he (O1) can pass to his teammate O2 and they can create a two on one advantage.
7)This sequence will progress in a "building" process where each team is trying to build their team by maintaining puck possession or trying to get the puck back and then passing to their next teammate in line. The best scenario is a 3 on 1 advantage.
8) When building the team, each teammate must touch the puck, before they can pass to their next teammate in line. Such as, X1 gets possession on the coach dump in and he passes to X2 who comes in with the puck. X2 must pass the puck at least one time back to X1 before they can try to pass the puck to X3. (Of course, the "O" team will be trying to get the puck back, so they can pass to their "O" teammate.)
9) During the building process either team can try to score at anytime, which will end the drill.
10) If the goalie freezes the puck the drill is over.
11) Maximum number of players from each side is 3, for a 3 on 3.
12) If the puck exits the zone across the blueline during the drill, the coach will pass a new puck back to the team that had possession of the puck before it exited the zone.
