This drill was created using HockeyShare.com's Online Drill Drawing & Practice Planning Platform.
2 forwards and 1 defence start on whistle. Green forward has puck.
On whistle, green forward starts in towards blue line, cuts back hard and carries out to center ice, then back in towards zone again, and delivers a pass to D.
Red D has "mirrored" green forward's skating pattern, pivoting forwards and backwards and matching speed.
Blue F follows green forward's pattern exactly, and as pass is delivered to D, continues on towards D to pressure him and attempt to forecheck and gain possession of puck / block short pass.
Green F stops at blueline and presents an outlet for D along boards, moves as necessary to get open for outlet.
D tries to saucer pass or protect puck and deliver short pass to green F while avoiding forecheck pressure.
If forecheck successful and blue F comes up with puck, green F jumps into play and they attack 2-on-1 vs D until scoring chance or puck clear.
If D is able to hit green F with pass, green forward takes puck outside of zone and blue F must clear zone and stay onside. Forwards regroup and attack zone 2-on-1 vs red D until scoring chance or puck clear.
On whistle, next two forwards and one D commence drill.
Notes: Stress GAME SPEED and hard skating. This drill should be a quick hit to keep all the players on the ice involved quickly. It can also be used in combination with a 2nd half-ice drill in opposite end and fewer players.
