Belmont Hill Drill

Diagrams

Description

Coach passes the puck into the zone and the players play a 3 v 3 game inside the blue line. The players are shooting at the goal directly in front of their line. All in-zone players are active shooters. In addition, the 1st player in each line is a point outlet. If one of his in-zone teammates passes him the puck, that team is to immediately head to the net-front. Once the in-zone players are in position, the point player takes a low slap-shot. The net-front players on offense should be looking for a tip/rebound while the defense claims space and boxes out, attempting to clear the puck away.

Notes: If there is only one goaltender, the net can be centered and a designated point man can be used.

A variation can be made where one player from each team much remain inside the circle in front of the opposition's net.
