D Zone: We get beat out of corner 3

Diagrams

Description

Green line indicates how we react to losing a corner battle

If the puck gets up to the point we have to get into shooting lanes and tie up our man if a shot gets through.

The strong side winger skates out towards the point making sure he is in the shooting lane.

The weakside winger has to react to what the D on the boards does with the puck. If he gets a shot through, the weakside winger skates back to the net to out number the other team on a rebound. If the D on the boards goes D to D the weakside winger needs to get into his shooting lane and skate out to challenge.

The 3 players down low must stay on the defensive side of their man and tie up sticks if a shot gets through.

everyone has to watch the play and their man at all times in our D zone

Communication is key when there are breakdowns
