Foxhole Forecheck

Drill Diagram

Description

Coach dumps a puck in, two players race for it. The first to get there is F1, and can walk either direction. The second player is F2 and must read which way F1 goes, and goes to that nearside post. Once F1 gets to the hashmark, players yell foxhole and F1 throws the puck into the shaded area (HS Tigers call this Foxhole). F2 releases from nearside post and grabs the puck and can go either direction. F3 is likely now F2 and the original F1 is likely F3, but the players need to read the situation. Continue cycling in this manner until the coach blows the whistle and the players can try to score. Add a defender or coach once they get the hang of it.

Notes: This will be very confusing for Squirt/10U at first. Walk through it slow and help them understand that once in the offensive zone, LW/RW/C don't exist and they don't need to stay on a particular side- just support the puck carrier.
