This drill is designed to help wingers learn to read the play and make decision changes on the fly.

Set up as shown, drill starts on whistle.

Coach dumps puck in behind the net and goalie stops puck and gets out of the way, D players starts on the whistle. F players dont start until goalie stops puck so they must watch play.

F players must watch the motions of the D player to figure out which direction they will be going for breakout , F players must react and if D players changes direction F players must react accordingly .

Once breakout has been completed both F players loop out over blue line and back into the zone for a scoring chance, D tries to stop the pass or shot by any means possible

Notes: D dont rush , dont be afraid to change directions forcing the F to adjust but still do not rush the pass.
