Continuous Rim

Drill Diagram

Description

If your wingers need help making plays along the wall in the defensive zone, then this is a good hockey drill which gives players a lot of repetitions in this situation. Form two lines with pucks at the hash marks on opposite ends of the ice as shown in the diagram. The line should face the goal line.
P2 gives rim pass from line to P1 that just shot on net. P1 races to far wing to collect rim pass, get off the boards, and pass to P2 who comes over as wing slant support. P1 is done (gets in next line) and P2 weaves around coach pressure in NZ for shot/rebound. P2 now picks up the rim pass from P3 and drill continues.

Notes: working on that first breakout rim pass, 2nd slant pass to far wing support, and individual weave in the neutral zone

Tags: 1. time rim pass (coach behind the net should help as D), 2. pickup rim in motion and get off the wall, 3. weave in NZ with puck protection and drive/corkscrew to the net
