Breakout and offensive shot - D to D pass

Drill Diagram

Description

2 Lines, Forwards and Defense
Coach dumps puck in corner, D skates backwards to the faceoff dot pivots and skates to retrieve puck. 2nd D also skates backwards to the front of the net and pivots to get into position for D to D pass. Once D pivots first forward in line skates hard to the far boards to provide the wing option for the D, the 2nd forward makes a deep turn closure to the middle of the ice to give the center option. D1 passes to D2 and D2 chooses winger or center, if puck is passed to winger then winger can chip around coach or directly pass to center (middle).

Center takes puck down ice but stays to the outside (can use coach to keep player to the outside). Winger skates hard to get back in play. Center skates low and waits for winger to get into position and then passes for a quick shot. Defense follows up and takes position at point. After the shot center goes to the corner to a pile of pucks and passes one back to the winger. D takes shot on net with winger screening the goalie.

Options to have Center go straight in for a shot and then winger gets puck and passes to D.

Run both sides of the ice at the same time

Switch sides halfway through drill.

Coaches play passive defence, position where potential attackers could be.
