Drill Diagram

Description

Time:
16 mins (14 mins work / 2 mins rest & demo)
Goalies: in both nets stopping shots and minimizing rebounds

Description:
Drill being run out of both ends at the same time. All 3 players start out of the corner at the same time.
-Blue player will skate up to the blue line, turn outwards to the boards and back to the middle taking a shot on net. Blue player then continues across the ice and pivots backwards around the faceoff dot and up the ice defending the 2on1 from the Red & Green players.
-Red player will follow the Blue player and take a shot on net then skate over to the far corner and pick up a puck. Red player will then skate up the wall attacking the Blue player 2on1 with the Green player.
-Green player skates up the wall and turns inward and down the middle taking a shot on net from the high slot. Green player then turns up the middle and attacks up the ice 2on1 with the Red player against the Blue player.
-After the 2on1, all 3 players become a 3-man team and play 3on3 against the 3 players that started from the opposite end. Coach will throw a puck out into the neutral zone.

Key Points:
*Shooting – shoot to score! Do not waste the shot.
*2on1- Red player (w/puck) needs to push the defender back by skating hard up the wall and into the offensive zone. Green player needs to decide whether to drive the net or drop back and support from high looking for a pass. Defender should try to take away the pass if the Green player drives the net. If the Green player drops back, try to disrupt the pass but also make sure you don’t give an open lane to the Red player with the puck.
*3on3 – no icing but there is offsides. Players need to get their shot off quickly on the 2on1, do not waste time, and then turn up ice to collect the puck and attack or step back and defend 3on3.
