Perpetual Timing Drill

Drill Diagram

Description

The drill operates on both sides of the ice at the same time. Only one side is shown in the diagram to try to keep things neat. Drill is set up with three lines of players on both sides of the ice, on both blue lines and the red line. O1 starts with a puck, the rest of the pucks are spread out behind both nets. O1 takes a shot then skates behind the net to pick up a new puck. X1 has started his route at the same time as O1, and 'opens up' (performs a pivot in order to keep his eye on the passer and to remain a passing option at all times) for the pass. O1 passes to X1 who takes a couple strides the boards. X3 has been timing his route and has 'opened up' for a pass from X1. X1 passes to X3 who takes a couple strides up ice. X5 has been timing his route and has 'opened up' for a pass from X3. X3 passes to X5 who skates in and takes a shot on net. X5 proceeds behind the net to grab a new puck and looks to make a pass to the new forward on the other side, which makes the drill perpetual.

After O1 makes his pass to X1, he joins the line where X1 started.
After X1 makes his pass to X3, he joins the line where X3 started.
After X3 makes his pass to X5, he joins the line where x5 started.

Notes: Drill is for players work on being a passing option to the puck carrier, in the correct position, at the correct time.
