Bench coach calls out two players from the bench and they pick which side of pylons to start at and get ready behind the goal line. Goalies go without pucks players take pucks for the entire skate. Timer coaches watch the start finish and signal the coach at the far end when they are ready. Coach at far end blows the whistle to start the race. Timers judge and time until player crosses past the last pylon. ( A 1 second penalty is issued for each missed pylon)
