3 Goalie Drill

Drill Diagram

Description

1. Each of these 3 drills provides the goalie with four critical goalie development skills.

2. Drill 1 in the center, begins with the goalie in the middle of their net. He moves out to X1 stops, sets and goes into butterfly. X1 then shoots. Goalie takes puck off pads, gets up and move across to face X2, he sets and take shot from X2. The goalie then moves back to left post, steps out to X3, sets goes down to butterfly and 3 shoots. Goalie gets up moves to right post and repeats twice more before break. Then moves to Drill 2 or as each coach requires.

3. Drill 2. The goalie begins the drill with his back to the shooters. One of the shooters than slams their stick on ice (Only one of them has the puck so the goalie looks to see who has the puck), goalie turns and or moves to the appropriate shooter, sets and then the shooter takes their shot and not before. This drillis for the goalie to quickly find the puck, move quickly and set and is not for the shooter to try and score.

4. Drill 3. The drill begins with the goalie on his knees or a butterfly. The shooter then shoots top corners of the net. The goalie makes each save. The shooter or shooters on this drill should have good wrist shot.
