Tags: Any trap-type system REQUIRES all players to stick to their respective assignments. The purpose is to slow down or stop opposing team in the neutral zone., This particular system is designed to cut off passing lanes and force puck carrier to give up the puck by either: 1) losing control after initial contact, 2) attempting to make a bad cross ice pass, 3) weak dump in w/ no forecheckers in position to play the puck deep., , Forwards must execute the curl behind the play to eliminate the outlet pass and then catch up to cut off passing lanes. Strong side forward has to corral puck carrier.
