High-Low Drill

Drill Diagram

Description

All players are lined up in 4 corners X1, X2, X3 and X4.

On the coaches whistle, all players start out with a puck at the same time. Two opposite corners are designated "high", and the other two opposite corners "low".

In this case, X1 and opposite corner X2 will start out skating to the "high" set of pylons at the opposite blue line, then turn and weave through them, returning towards their starting end, where they will shoot on goal before returning to their line.

X3 and X4 are "short", and will skate to the closest blue line, weave through the pylons and shoot before returning to line.

Notes: OPTION: Add two players leaving from each line at the same time. The second player will follow the first through the cones, and receive a drop pass at the blue line, where they will both go to the net.

OPTION 2: After the "low" player shoots, they will stay in front of the net and tip/screen/rebound the shot from the returning "high" player.

*** At the halfway point of the drill time, switch the roles, so X1 and X2 go "low" and X3 and X4 go "high".
