3 station drills

Drill Diagram

Description

3 stations x 6-7 minutes
Break up into Three groups of 4-5 players.
Players try to shoot the duck when moving to the next activity. If that is too easy, try it backwards.
Coaches distribute water at each station as kids arrive.

Station 1: Give-Away Game
Players split into 2 teams with one team on each side of the line. Players must stay on their own side. The players attempt to shoot as many pucks as possible into the other team's zone. On the whistle to end the game, the team with the fewest pucks in their zone wins.

Station 2: Pass between the cones
Divide players into two teams. Teams score by making a pass through the cones that a team mate receives. If only 3 players play 2-on-1 and switch around. Goal is to teach kids to create passing lanes. Get a point each time players are able to make a pass between the cones. The pass has to be a completed pass.

Station 3: Loose puck race w/ puck carry and Pass
On coaches whistle, players skate with puck around first three cones. After third cone, player immediately passes puck at the cone next to barrier. If player hits the cone with the pass they get 1 point. After passing the puck, players continue around last cone and race to the puck in the center that the coach placed there. First player to the puck tries to score and second backchecks. If player scores, they get another point. Try to keep score. Focus on making pass right after going around the cone and on moving feet after pass. They should use their backhand if they come around the cone on their backhand. Players should change lines after each race.
