Continuous Forecheck

Drill Diagram

Description

Green line and blue line line up in neutral zone. Red line is against boards in neutral zone.

Coach starts continuous play by passing to one line... who will start attack by "regrouping" and curling out of zone (in this case, green line gets puck and passes D-to-D to start rush). On crossing center ice, green line strategically dumps puck into blue zone and begins forecheck system of choice (1-2-2, 2-1-2, etc).

Blue line collects puck and tries to break out of zone while green line attempts to forecheck and score.

Red line sets up behind center ice as a 5-man unit and waits for blue line to successfully clear zone and attack.

If green line scores, play is reset at center between blue line and red line, and green goes off.

If blue line is able to clear zone, they attack opposite end using forechecking system of choice and dumps puck in after crossing center ice. Green line goes off against boards.

Now blue line attempts to recover puck and score, and red line attempts to clear zone using breakout of coaches' choice. If successful, the green line now jumps in behind center and defends against rushing and attacking red line against green line that has jumped in to defend.

Play continues with only stoppages happening on scored goals, in which case coach resets at center again.
