Dman Mobility Skate Pass Shoot

Drill Diagram

Drill Diagram

Description

Time:
14 mins (12 mins work / 2 mins rest & demo)
Goalies: 1 goalie will be at other end with forwards in a different drill. 1 goalie will be in net stopping shots and minimizing rebounds or deflecting shots away to corners.

Description: (*Diagram 2 is original drill*) Red D skates forward, pivoting inward & backwards, weaving between the cones and outward. Red D then receives a pass from the wall and quickly turns across ice, looking to make a pass to the "outlet" on the far side wall. Once receiving the pass, the "outlet" immediately skates off the wall and to the middle of the ice, taking a shot on goal. (*Diagram 1 is a progression with a one timer cross ice pass.*)

Key Points:
Passing - Hands in front of body to give and receive passes.
Footwork & Body Positioning - D need to make sure they are rotating their hips and torso independently as they pivot and skate through the cones. They should be looking at the puck the entire time and once they receive the pass, turn their torso toward the outlet player on far side and they need to move the puck immediately over to the "outlet" player with a strong pass.
Getting off the wall - "outlet" player on the wall needs to get off the wall quickly and to the middle of the ice along the blue line for the shot.

Notes: Diagrams are reversed. #2 should be original drill / #1 should be progression drill

Red D goes for 2 mins then switches out to someone else.
