Drill Diagram

Description

Separate team into 3 groups.
Group one goes to station 1, Group two goes to station 2, Group three goes to station 3

Station 1 (Wrist Shot / Slap Shot)
Players line up across the zone at the top of the circles.
First player takes 3 wrist shots on net, Then second player takes his shots and so on.

(If a player misses he net completely they must do a lap for every miss of that cycle.)

Once all players have gone rotate your goalie an do it again.

After 2 to 3 rounds move players back to blue line and switch to Slap shots.

Players line up across the blue about 2 to 3 foot inside zone.
First player takes 3 slap shots on net, Then second player takes his shots and so on.

(If a player misses he net completely they must do a lap for every miss of that cycle.)

Once all players have gone rotate your goalie an do it again.

Station 2 (Wrist Shot Low / High)
Players line up about 10 foot from boards and do a wrist shot on the ice against the boards
On the rebound players use the wrist shot (NOT SNAP SHOT) to elevate the puck into the glass.
On that rebound still using a wrist shot (NOT SNAP SHOT) players are to keep the puck on the ice and shooting into the boards.
Alternate puck shots from low to high in a continuous and fluid manner.

Station 3 (Backhand Low / High)
Players line up about 10 foot from boards and do a backhand shot on the ice against the boards
On the rebound players use the backhand shot to elevate the puck into the glass.
On that rebound still using a backhand shot players are to keep the puck on the ice and shooting into the boards.
Alternate puck shots from low to high in a continuous and fluid manner.

Notes: Station 1:
(Wrist Shot)
Slide the puck from front to back
Shoot the puck while transferring your weight from your back leg to your front leg
Follow through aiming towards the net.
(Bottom hand is power hand)

(Slap Shot)
Line the puck up a few feet in front of you 2-3 inches back from your front skate.
Rotate your hips, transfer your weight forward, and load your stick for more power.
Stick should contact the ice first, 3 to 5 inches behind puck.

Station 2:
Slide the puck from your front foot to your back foot
Shoot the puck while transferring your weight from your back leg to your front leg
Follow through aiming towards the target.
(Bottom hand is power hand)

Station 3:
Slide the puck away from your target
Move the puck while transferring your weight in the direction of the shot
Release the puck from the middle of the blade of the stick
Snap the wrists as puck leaves stick to give the shot a little more power
