Description

#1 - Crossover forwards. Split group into two and have each group complete 2 laps then switch.
Emphasize pushing with both feet, stick facing center, and shoulders square/level with ice.

#2 - Starts and stops - basic drill. Split group into two and start at opposite blue lines. Stop and red and blue repeatedly.
Emphasize stopping with knees bent, feet wide and staggered and ready to start back up again.

#3 - Stationary stickhandling - rotate between 3 drills; on the outside of forehand/backhand skate, 1-2-3 across body, and around the world.
Emphasize starting out slow, finding rhythm and then picking up speed and taking eyes off puck.

#4 - Shoot on the go. All players in corner, goalie in net. First X skates backwards and receives pass from second player in line. Pivot around cone and take quick shot on net BEFORE faceoff dot.
Emphasize keeping their feet moving even while skating and receiving puck. Shot to score every time.

#5 - Weave stickhandle - stickhandling drill working on getting comfortable changing direction with the puck.
Emphasize keeping puck in front of body and to keep feet moving and speed up.

#6 - Shot on the move. First player skates around cone and receives pass from second player. Take quick shot from side.
Emphasize underhandling the puck and taking quick shots.

Notes: Run each drill 3-4 minutes. Complete cycle 2-3 times.
