Serpentine Full Ice

Drill Diagram

Animation #1

Description

This is a timing and flow drill working on passing, skating and shooting all at the same time.

Every player on the ice must pay attention and be prepared as many things are going on at the same time.

Set cones and players as shown to start drill, on coaches whistle drill begins.
X1 skates down and around the first contend heads towards second cone, as X1 is approaching second cone X2 passes X1 a puck. X1 turns cone and goes in for a shot and this is where timing comes in, X2 can not leave until X1 has taken his shot......this is very important as the natural instinct will be to leave right away.....this can not happen.

X1 then skates to the corner and picks up a puck and heads behind the net setting up a breakout pass, X2 then follows the same path as X1 and so on down the line.

X1 makes breakout pass to X5 and then takes X5's position, X5 then skates down and once crossing the center ice red line makes a dump in around the boards to X6.

X5 then skates the next set of cones while facing the dumped puck the entire time meaning after reaching the first cone the player then reverses and skates backwards to pivot around next cone.

X6 moves with the puck to the corner as X5 breaks for the net , X6 makes a pass to X5 for a 1 time shot, as soon as X6 makes his pass he must sprint to the line where the drill starts. X5 goes behind the net to receive the next dump in pass.

It is very important everyone keeps moving at a high pace as other things are going on behind you and you need to get into position for their next phase of the drill.

Notes: Note if for any reason you miss a pass or lose the puck leave it and just continue to the next position , if you goes chasing loose pucks it will mess the drill up for everyone behind you so do not do it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
