Drill Diagram

Animation #1

Description

This drill works on skating with the puck , shooting , rebounds and goal tending all in one drill

Set up as shown.

On the coaches go the first 2 skaters on one side take off with the first skater carrying a puck, the second skater following the first skaters path. The first skaters goes around tires as shown and after rounding the last tire the first skater has 2 choices, take a long shot or go to the net for a in close shot.....here is the key, his shot is not a shot to score but to his the goalie pads on purpose, all the while the second skater must read what the first skater is going to do and put himself in what he feels will be the best position for a scoring rebound shot.

Key to this drill is timing so the players in the opposite line can not leave until the players proceeding them take their first shot, the shooting players should alternate long shots and in close shots but always hitting the goalie pads on purpose.

Goalie, your keys are you are not allowed to go down at all during this drill......you must stay on your feet. For the first shot you can work on controlling your rebounds as you know the shooter is not trying to score, knowing where your rebound will be going will allow you to know where your moving to for the next shot.

Do this 5 times for each pair then have both lines swap sides of the ice and do drill again 5 times per pairing
