Forecheck Aggression

Drill Diagram

Animation #1

Description

This drill works on aggressive forecheck and support and break out pass.

Set up as shown and drill begins when coach dumps a puck in, anywhere in the offensive zone.
Once puck has been dumped 2 players from the center ice line take off and they are the forecheckers and 1 player from the blue line takes off and he is the defensive players. All skaters must skate around the tires in front of their lines then enter the zone. The second player from the blue line may not leave until his line mate (the defensive player) touches the puck.

Defensive player races full speed to retrieve puck, the 2 fore checking players also goes full speed with the first player to get there plays the body only not the puck, while the first player has the puck carrier tied up the second forechecking player takes the puck away and once he has possession makes a hard breakout pass the the player that has set himself up for the breakout.

If the defensive player escapes the pressure he then makes a breakout pass to player waiting for breakout pass.

Notes: Note the player receiving the break out pass is not on either team he is just there to receive the breakout pass.
