Drill Diagram

Animation #1

Description

This drill is designed to replicate game situations, set up as shown. (note) The coaches are to create a physical obstacle for players to go around and should make minor attempts to slow up play but not stop it.

On coaches whistle F1 & F5 take off down the boards toward coaches standing near the blue line.
D1 & D2 also take off toward the tire turning inside the tire and head toward the boards as they would in an offensive game situation.

The F players do a bounce pass off the boards to themselves going inside the coach while the puck goes off the boards. Once the F players have the puck back behind the coaches they make a break to the net taking a shot.

Once the players have cleared the coaches the coaches then move down between the hash marks.

The F players then rush to the corner to pick up a puck and make an bounce pass to the D at the point, the D should practice using their feet or body against the boards to keep the puck in and not rely on just the stick.

The F player rushes to the front of the net to create a screen while the D players gains control of the puck and walks the blue line and takes a shot, while the coaches move back up to their spot just inside the blue line and the next group starts after the shot has been taken.
