Gauntlet

Drill Diagram

Description

- X1 starts the exercise by jumping over PEP1 from the inside to outside, quick change of direction to the inside of the rink for a pass to C.
- X1 carries on following the pattern, once X1 jumps over PEP2, C makes the 2nd pass.
- X1 attacks toward the blue line then regroups with a tight turn toward the boards around PEP3 and jumps over with a pass to C.
- X1 regroups around PEP2 for a transition pass from C.
- X1 flys down the boards with the puck and does a "Crosby on the Fly" then attacks toward the net.

Notes: - The "C" can be replaced with a player (D-man) to work on passing and being active when not in puck possession. Reading the direction and movements of the player.
- A coach can act as resistance as X1 comes around PEP2 for the transition pass, chase the player down the boards as the opposition would in a game situation.
- Have PEP sticks as shown in the diagram, as it makes the players aware of weak-side/strong-side attack. "Always try to attack weak side!
