Description

Time:
12 mins (10 mins work / 2 mins rest & demo)
Goalies: in both nets stopping shots and minimizing rebounds while communicating to players on their team.

Description:
Red F’s - swing across the ice below the Black D. 1 red F will start w/ a puck and drop it as the 2 F’s cross. They will then both turn up ice and attack 2on2 with speed.
Blue D – as red F’s take off, both D will skate forward to at least the centre line and then pivot backwards and play the on coming 2on2 rush attack.
Key Points:
Gap Control – D need to make sure they don’t pivot early and give up too much gap control. Speed will kill and too much runway speed will cause problems picking up the player as they enter the zone with speed.
Tracking / Communication – D need to communicate as play is developing. Understanding where the player without the puck is headed and how to adjust to that variable.
Stickwork – Defenders can lead F’s down a narrow path by properly using their stick to cut off passing lanes and using their angling skills to defend the rush.
