Description

NZ - Stops and starts. Focus: on stops - Use both edges (front leg is inside edge and back leg is outside edge). Turn head to direct where you want to go next. Knees bent.
On starts: Stay low. Open hips as you get into V start from stop, front leg opens up to create V and drive from the back leg (pushing from ball of the foot - not toe or heel).

"Catch and release". X1 starts by taking shot on net. Then heads to corner to pick up puck and goes behind the net. Passes puck to X2. X2 catches puck and releases it. NO STICKHANDLING. X1 then grabs 2nd puck and goes around the net to pass to X2 for 2nd shot. Again - NO STICKHANDLING. Catch and release or one timer ideally. X2 then goes to get puck and drill is continues. Make sure to give goalies a break. Teaching points: Drive bottom hand through the stick (try to break the stick!). Top hand away from the body. Push from back leg (or if kids are capable keep hips towards the net and push from outside leg to land on inside leg). Rotate hips to finish with stick, shoulders and hips facing the net. Finish shot by staying low and driving through the puck. Point blade towards spot you want to aim at.

Wrist shots - Simple line them up and let them shoot. Focus on driving through the stick (try to break it) and force flex. Stay low and finish low on shot (don't lift up). Top hand stays off hips.
