# Leaderboards

A leaderboard ranks your athletes on one test using each athlete's best result. It includes every active athlete in your organization, whichever coach added them.

## Step 1 — Open the leaderboard

Go to **Reports → Leaderboard**.

## Step 2 — Choose your settings

- **Select Metric** – the test to rank. Neutral metrics (like height) aren't listed, because there's no "better" direction to rank them by.
- **Date Range (Optional)** – leave it empty for all-time results, or set dates to rank one testing period.
- **Filter by Classifications (Optional)** – tick groups like Varsity or U14. Leave them all unticked to include everyone.
- **Number of Athletes to Show** – the top 1–100 (10 by default).
- **Report Title (Optional)** – used on exports and print. It defaults to "Leaderboard Results".

Click **Generate Leaderboard**.

## Step 3 — Read the results

Each row shows the athlete's **Rank**, **Birth Year**, best **Result**, **Latest Test** date and **Total Tests**.

How ranking works:

- "Best" follows the metric's direction: the highest value for Higher is Better, and the lowest for Lower is Better.
- Only results inside the date range count.
- Ties share a rank, and the next rank is skipped (1, 2, 2, 4).

## Step 4 — Save it (optional)

Click **Save**, give the leaderboard a name, and save. Open it again any time from **Saved Leaderboards**.

Saved leaderboards also appear on athlete profiles:

- One with no classification filter shows for every athlete.
- One filtered by classification shows only for athletes in those groups.

Each athlete sees their own rank even if they're outside the top list.

On the Free plan, an organization can have 1 saved leaderboard. Premium has no limit. Owners, Admins and Editors can save leaderboards.

## Step 5 — Print or export

- **Print** – a print-friendly page. Available on every plan.
- **Export PDF** and **Export CSV** – downloads for sharing or a spreadsheet. These are Premium.

## Good to Know

- Archived athletes still appear on leaderboards. Archiving only hides them from the main athlete list.
- Results of 0 are ignored when ranking, so an athlete's best non-zero result is used. An athlete whose only results are 0 won't appear on that leaderboard.
- Saved leaderboards show on shared athlete pages too, including the names in the top list. Keep that in mind before sharing. See [Sharing Results & Emailing Reports](/support/kb/perform/sharing-results-and-emailing-reports).

## Tips

- Save one leaderboard per key test (for example 30m Sprint, Vertical Jump) and filter each by age group, so every athlete sees where they stand.
- Use a date range to run a "this season" leaderboard next to an all-time one.
- If an athlete is missing, check that their result isn't 0, that it falls inside the date range, and that they're in the classification you filtered by.
