A metric is one test you measure, such as Vertical Jump, 30m Sprint or Weight. Metrics belong to the organization, so every coach in it records against the same list. Go to Metrics & Data → Manage Metrics.
Step 1 — Start from a template
Click Templates. Each tab is a ready-made test battery:
- Standard Hockey Combine – height, weight, wingspan, body fat, jumps, agility, sprint, grip strength and pull-ups.
- Off-Ice Testing – strength, power, endurance and flexibility tests for a gym session.
- On-Ice Speed/Agility – timed skating tests such as 30m Forward and Backward Skate, Weave Agility and Full-Ice Sprint.
Every metric in the battery starts checked. Uncheck the ones you don't need, then click Add Selected Metrics. Metrics you already have with the same name are skipped. You can edit or delete any metric afterwards.
Step 2 — Create a custom metric
Click Create Custom Metric and fill in the following:
- Metric Name and an optional Description.
- Category – Body Measurement, Strength, Explosiveness, Endurance, Speed, On-Ice or Other.
- Value Type – Measurement for numbers (height, weight, distance) or Time for timed tests.
- Unit of Measurement – the unit shown next to results, such as cm, kg, lbs or seconds.
- What's Better? – Higher is Better (vertical jump), Lower is Better (sprint time) or Neutral (height, weight).
Step 3 — Organize your list
- Star a metric to make it a favorite. Favorites appear first in every metric dropdown.
- Click the eye icon to hide metrics you don't use.
- Drag and drop to change the order.
Favorites, hidden metrics and order are your own settings for this organization. They don't change what other coaches see.
Good to Know
- Free accounts can have up to 5 custom metrics per organization, and metrics added from templates count toward that. When you pick more than you have room for, only the first ones are added.
- Neutral metrics are tracked and charted, but they don't appear on leaderboards and have no improvement colors.
- For Time metrics, enter results as mm:ss (such as 4:30) or in seconds (such as 270).
- A metric can only be deleted when it has no test results. Delete its results first.
- Changing a metric's value type or unit later can change how existing results are displayed.
- Only editors, admins and owners can create, edit or delete metrics.
Tips
- Set What's Better? carefully. It decides the leaderboard order and whether a change shows as an improvement.
- Put the unit in the unit field, not the name. "Vertical Jump" with unit "in" reads better on reports than "Vertical Jump (in)".
- Star the 4–5 tests you run most so they're at the top when you enter results.
