Starting a Playbook from a Template

Templates are ready-made playbooks built by HockeyShare, like a systems playbook with the sections already laid out. Starting from one gives you a structure to fill in instead of a blank page.

Step 1 — Pick a template

Go to Playbooks → New Playbook. Under Start from a template, each card shows the template's name, its category and how many sections it has. Click Use this template on the one you want.

Step 2 — Make it yours

The builder opens with your own copy of the template. Change anything you like: rewrite the text, swap in your own drills, add or remove blocks. Click Playbook Settings to rename it, add a description, attach teams or set it to public.

What you get

  • A copy of every section in the template, in the same order.
  • The copy is private. Nobody else can see it until you share it.
  • It isn't attached to any team yet, and it has no tags.
  • Changes you make never affect the template, and later changes to the template don't affect your copy.

Good to Know

  • A playbook made from a template counts toward your playbook limit like any other. Free accounts can have one playbook.
  • Don't see Start from a template? There are no templates available yet; start blank instead.

Tips

  • Use a template once to see how a good playbook is laid out, then build your own the same way.
  • Replace the template's example drills with drills from your own library using the Hockey Drill block, so your players see your diagrams.
