Playbooks belong to you, not to a team. You can attach a playbook to any number of your teams, so the same breakout system can follow you from season to season. This guide covers how attaching works and the ways your players can find your playbooks.
Attaching a playbook to a team
You can attach a playbook to any team you manage:
- When you create it, under Attach to teams.
- In the builder, under Playbook Settings → Teams: pick a team and click Attach.
- From My Playbooks: open the ⋯ menu and choose Attach to Team, or select several playbooks and use the bulk Team actions.
To remove a team, click the ✕ on its chip in Playbook Settings → Teams. The playbook itself is not deleted.
What attaching does
- Players on that team's roster can open the playbook while logged in to HockeyShare.
- Managers of that team can view and edit it.
- In My Playbooks, you can filter by team to see only that team's playbooks.
Showing a playbook on your public team page
Your team can have a public page that anyone can open without logging in. Turn it on in the team's settings with Enable Public Team Page.
To list a playbook there, turn on Show on team page next to that team in Playbook Settings → Teams. It appears under the page's Playbooks tab.
Adding a playbook to Team Share
Team Share is your personal page for sharing content with players and parents (see Sharing Drills via Team Share). To add a playbook, open the ⋯ menu in My Playbooks and choose Team Share. Choose Team Un-Share to remove it.
- Adding a private playbook to Team Share makes its share link public.
- Making a playbook private removes it from Team Share.
- Playbooks with an expired link don't appear on Team Share.
Which option should I use?
- Attach to a team – your players and staff can open it while logged in.
- Show on team page – anyone visiting your public team page can find it.
- Team Share – it sits alongside your shared drills and plans on your Team Share page.
- Share link – send it to anyone directly. See Sharing a Playbook.
Good to Know
- If you check Enable a public share link when you create a playbook, the first team you attach starts with Show on team page turned on. Check Playbook Settings → Teams if you don't want it listed there.
- Show on team page lets anyone open the playbook, even if its visibility is Private.
- A password and expiration date still apply to everyone except you, collaborators with edit access, and team managers.
Tips
- At the start of a new season, attach your existing playbooks to the new team instead of copying them.
- Turn off Show on team page for systems you don't want opponents to see; attaching alone keeps them to your roster.
- Use a password on Team Share playbooks if your Team Share page isn't password protected.
