Using the AI Practice Plan Assistant

Using the AI Practice Plan Assistant

The AI Practice Assistant builds a full practice plan from your drills in under a minute. Tell it your ice, time and focus. Review what it picks, then save it as a regular plan.

NOTE: The AI Practice Assistant is a Premium feature.

Step 1 — Open the Assistant

Go to Plans → AI Assistant. The counter in the top right shows how many generations you have left this month.

Step 2 — Set Your Constraints

  • Ice format – full ice, half ice or cross-ice.
  • Practice length – 20 to 180 minutes.
  • Age level – optional.
  • Roster size and Number of stations – optional. Set stations if you run station-based practices.

Step 3 — Describe Your Focus

The Focus box is the most important part. Tell it what you want to work on, in plain words (up to 500 characters).

  • Good: "Breakouts under pressure and quick D-to-D passes. Finish with a small-area game."
  • Too vague: "Passing."

Step 4 — Choose Drill Sources

The assistant always uses your own drills. You can also include:

  • HockeyShare public drills
  • Association drills (if you're part of an association)

The assistant works best when it has at least 15 finished drills to choose from. If your library is small, turn on public drills.

Click Generate Practice Plan. It usually takes 15–45 seconds.

Step 5 — Review the Plan

The assistant gives your plan a title and total time, and groups the drills into sections (warm-up, skill work, scrimmage, etc.).

For each drill you can:

  • Change the Length.
  • Edit the Notes. The assistant adds coaching notes for each drill.
  • Click the trash can to remove it.

If the assistant couldn't fully match your request, a Heads up note explains what it changed.

Step 6 — Rate the Plan (Optional)

Use the thumbs up or thumbs down under How was this plan? If you give it a thumbs down, pick what was off, add a note and click Send feedback. We use this to improve the assistant.

Step 7 — Save It

Click Save as Practice Plan. The plan opens like any other plan, so you can edit it, pick a template, print it or share it.

Not happy with it? Click Start over and try a different focus.

Generation Limits

  • You get 10 generations per month. The count resets on the 1st.
  • If a generation fails, it doesn't count against your limit.

Tips

  • Be specific in the Focus box. Name the skill, the situation and how you want to finish.
  • Keep your drills finished and categorized. The assistant can only pick from drills it can understand.
  • Treat the result as a first draft. Swap drills or adjust times in the Plan Builder after you save.
  • Short on drills? Turn on HockeyShare public drills for more variety.
