# Recovering Deleted Vault Items

Deleted Vault items go to the Trash first, so you can bring them back.

## Step 1 — Open the Trash

Go to **Vault → More → Trash**.

## Step 2 — Restore the item

Find the item and click **Restore**. It goes back to your Vault.

## Deleting for good

- Click the **✕** (Delete forever) button next to an item to remove it right away.
- Click **Empty Trash** to permanently delete everything in the Trash.

Both can't be undone.

## Good to Know

- Items stay in the Trash for 30 days. The **Auto-Remove** column shows how many days are left.
- Just deleted something by mistake? Click **Undo** in the message that appears.
- Only your own links, notes, files and images go to the Vault Trash. Deleted drills, plans and playbooks are in the Trash of their own section.
- Deleting a folder doesn't delete its items. See [Organizing with Folders](/support/kb/vault/vault-folders).

## Tips

- Check the Trash before re-uploading a file you think you lost.
- Use **Empty Trash** when you're sure you don't need anything in it.
