# Sharing Vault Items & Folders with a Link

Every Vault item and folder is private until you share it. A share link lets anyone with the link view the item. They don't need a HockeyShare account.

## Share an item

Open the item's **⋮** menu and choose **Share Link**. The link is created and the item shows as **Public**. Choose **Copy Share Link** to copy it, then paste it into a text, email or team app.

## Share a folder

Open the folder's **⋮** menu and choose **Share Link**, then **Copy Share Link**. You can also open the folder and click **Copy Share Link** at the top. The folder header shows how many times the link has been viewed.

Anyone with a folder link can see **everything inside it**, including subfolders and items you haven't shared on their own. Check what's in a folder before you share it.

## What people see

- The item's title, content and **Shared by** with your name.
- Files have a **Download File** button and images can be opened full size.
- A shared folder lists its items with a search box and a type filter.

## Stop sharing

Choose **Make Private** from the item or folder menu. The old link stops working right away. If you share it again later, it gets a new link.

## Emailing items

Premium members can send items by email. Choose **Email** from the item menu, or select several items and choose **Organize → Email**.

- Add recipients by hand or pick a saved email list.
- Add an optional message.
- You can email up to 50 items at once. Folders can't be emailed.
- Emailing turns on the share link for each item, because the email links to it.

## Good to Know

- Vault share links don't expire and can't have a password. Use **Make Private** when you're done sharing.
- Want only other coaches to see an item? Use [Send to coach](/support/kb/vault/vault-inbox) instead. It gives them a private copy, not a public link.

## Tips

- Share a folder for things that change, like a "Parent Info" folder. Add new items to it and everyone with the link sees them.
- Make links private at the end of the season.
