Start with simple breakout drill D starts in the zone and one line up in position at centre ice. D skates back to one corner and forwards skate in to breakout positions, as D picks up the puck and skates behind the net, forwards shift to proper breakout positions, first forward on the boards receives breakout pass and skates down the ice, D picks up second puck, skates back around behind the net and makes the second pass to the other wing and finally the centreman

1. Get on the defenseman to make stronger, faster breakout passes.

2. After a couple times, get coaches up at the blue lines to create pressure on the player receving the breakout pass to continue working them on chipping the puck.
