Pivots, edges and stickhandling

Diagrams

Description

Player X starts from the corner, skates up to the pylon inside the blue line, pivots backwards, and skates backwards to the bottom of the far circle. Option 1 has a coach in the corner passing to the players in a breakout situation (below the goal line) and option 2 is like picking up a turnover from the defending team's defence. The player picks up the puck and skates around the pylon in the neutral zone and does a stick-handling course before picking up speed and getting to the house for a shot on the net.

Notes: Pivots always need to happen when looking at the puck. Stickhandling should be done with a focus on puck control and not puck overhandling.
