Blender Forecheck (5v2)

Diagrams

Description

This is a 5v2 drill where all players start on the boards lead by the defending left and right defensive players. On the whistle, they skate one complete lap of the centre circle and the coach dumps a puck into the zone. The first two defence enter the zone as D1 and D2 with the goal of getting to the puck as quickly as possible and getting it out of the zone. The attacking players assume F1, F2 and F3 roles and provide forechecking pressure. The goal is to set up offensive scoring opportunities. The offensive defence is also part of the play and using the defence as part of the setup of offensive scoring opportunities should be encouraged.

Notes: An additional coach can be used to take away passing lanes from the offensive team. This can be used to encourage seeking open lanes. The offensive defence can also leverage D-to-D passing to change the angles of shots and cause goalie movement.
