Diagrams

Description

Location: Neutral Zone
Setup: Line up players along the boards. Ensure they each have a puck.
Description: Broken out from out intro skating teach players the basics of carrying a puck in open ice on both their forehand and backhand.
On their forehand, they want the stick out in front of them, plowing the puck forward with it stuck to their stick. Make sure they have one hand (top hand) on their stick, and that their blade is tall, not tilted down.
On the backhand, they are shoving the puck ahead and skating to catch up to it, repeating the process as they move across the ice. Once again they are using only the top hand on the stick. The free hand is pumping front to back to generate speed. After players get the handle of this encourage them to go faster and faster.

Progressions:
- backhand
- forehand
- alternating forehand / backhand

Category: Puck Control
