Over-Under Drill

Diagrams

Description

Location: Full ice
Setup: Players line up at blue lines against boards on
opposite sides. Both lines have pucks.
Description: The drill starts on the whistle, with the first
player in each line leaving without a puck. They loop
through neutral ice as shown, curling close to the boards.
As the players pass the other line, the first player in line
steps out towards the center of the ice with a puck. They
pass to the player who just turned wide. The first player
goes in for a shot on net. The passer then takes the first
player's role, and the drill is continuous from there. Make
sure players are taking a good path to be a passing
option, and not getting too far up ice. Make sure the
passer steps into the middle and starts moving to make
the pass as flat as possible.
Progression #1: Having the looping player open up for
the pass, never taking their eyes off the puck.
Progression #2: Instead of a tape to tape pass, the
passer will time a bank pass in front of the player, having
them skate into it, and in for a shot
